There are talks about how China's constant infrastructure construction is actually not beneficial to China at all but a debt trap and another way Chinese money is being siphoned off into private hands of the west.
These construction projects don't benefit the people of China at all, and no one asks who they're really for, though it is future generations of Chinese people expected to be responsible in paying it off. These megaprojects also require massive amounts of natural resources sourced from Africa and the middle east to construct, which further enmeshes China in the global USD-led economy, which only benefits the US currently.
People are saying these projects actually represent the tacit private cooperation of the US elites and China's elites behind the scenes, and that this group actually represents a third-party whose aims are unaffiliated with the real wellbeing of either the US or China. In the same class of organizations like the central banking system who are not loyal to any particular nation state but plays them off each other to execute their grander plans.
