only if you work with dangerous machinery or are involved with feds. which is a lot of people because feds contract/subcontract work, and those contractors also must piss clean to work with feds. so say you are just some office drone but your company has some contracts for a fed agency. even if it's not cleared (secure) work, your entire company will need to pass drug tests for compliance. it actually fucks with a lot of stuff because there are small for example software shops that can do solid work but they cant get hired by the feds if they have a few recreational drug users. I dont partake but I refuse to work for companies that require this bullshit as a matter of principle.

Few places drug test, it depends on the profession. For example, you can't be a druggie and have an active CDL, but that's a good thing and we all know it.

the funniest part is that many clearance levels dont require drug tests, even if u can be subjected to random tests. so you can have cleared people who are on drugs, but you cant hire some software firm without putting a bunch of uncleared people through drug testing. it's a fucking joke lol.
