Could this have happened? Is a nuke black market possible?

It's not easy and the origin of nuclear material could be determined. It would be known who sold it.

Ok, thank you. Are you sure it could be determined? And is there any way its source could be """faked""", not sure what I mean?

I would give them nukes if I had some. I would give them 20 and tell them to give 5 to Yemen.

smooth sailing to the Caspian and into Iran. Shame it completely unnecesary. Iranians on a bicicle with cogs could enrich enough uranium

Yes they can tell because of the source of the uranium has markings of it's origin in mining plus refinement. It's like a bullet in a gun having a unique tracing that can be matched up to a barrel. Not the best analogy, but something for you to reference.

Or plutonium, which would be even easier to detect as it's produced in reactors which are unique to the nation's technological apparatus.

If they used a Russian nuke, we would know very quickly.

They wouldn't want a nuke going off being traced back to them. Plus nuclear weapons are a strategic asset not easily acquired. Why bother giving it to a regime which appears to be crumbling? Best to hold your strategic weapons in reserve.

Interesting. Would it be super SUPER difficult to develop an uncharacteristic/untraceable bomb to mislead international law? Or is that something that would be possible? Know nothing about this, just know there are a lot of bombs.

It's not that insane. Iranian regime knows its days are numbered, let's say. Has acquired a nuke somehow. Allah demands retribution on Israel. Suicide bomb on a civilization scale. Take their people with them. Seller of nuke is looking to bog Rome down in the war pit and away from xyz. Kind of insane, not that insane.

And that's where Jack Reacher steps in. Reboot of a dead early 10s almost franchise. Jack, who's lived in Iran since 2012, takes the Ayatollah out. Beheads him. Revenge for Charlie Hebdo. Sets a precedent. West heals, immigrants assimilate.

After nuke has been blown up, it is all the same.
And iraninans can simply decline to allow inspectors to inspect nuclear warheads.

It would be easy to use russian warheads. Thing is, that russians have not tested theirs for several decades. And if iranians are to buy those, they WANT to know that those are in working order. They need to test those. Be it on Tel Aviv, or underground.

naw, just sold them the ingredients and let them reverse engineer it.
Problem is the tech can't get past israel without malfunctioning or failing. At any case, the risk out ways benefit. Lets say Iran launches, missile gets shot down or fails. IDF finds evidence they tried to NOOK...Now Israel has an excuse to launch and we know for sure their shit works so Iran would be fucked.
Not good odds. Best to stick with you know

Plot twist. WE (or Mossad) sell the nuke to Iran in Russian black market disguise. We tell them we've tested it and it's pure. They buy it. They drop it (we know it won't go off). World looks on in horror as Israel had a nuke dropped on it. By the grace of God didn't blow. By the grace of God that was. We rip through Iran like it's paper and burn it to the ground, stealing all women for ourselves Aryan style.

Another plot twist: during Cold War, soviets developed briefcase size nuke. Planed to use in with spies and embassy personnel. They made around one hundred of those. After collapse of Soviet Union, in nineties russians did audit, and half of those briefcase-sized nukes were missing.

There was case in Russia in nineties or early 2000, when counter-intelligence unit caught guy who tried to exchange nuclear warhead for used WV Golf car.

Isn't this what Isreal has been saying they're doing already? Not saying it's true but if it is then who's to say they don't already have purchased nukes?

Are Pakistan or Best Korea allowing for foreigners to inspect their nuclear warheads? Dunno. May be, but unlikely.

>Not saying it's true but if it is then who's to say they don't already have purchased nukes?
Probably have, but they have not tested yet. There are that catch-22, that if they test it, they know that it works. Depending on volumes how much they managed to purchase (pretty sure in low numbers), it means that now they have one less warhead.

By setting up manufacturing pipeline, they can get production of predictable quality. With less risk of malfunctioning.
