If you believe in God because someone guarantees to you that it's real it's kinda pointless.
You can make a strong purely synthetic argument for the existence of a God and there are many strategies of constructing such argument but eventually this gets so involved you are more interested in the working on this problem than the actual answer.
As you increase your knowledge the question whether God exists or not becomes less and less interesting and maybe even meaningless.
It's not stupid to ponder the existence of God as it's lead to many interesting developments in philosophy but if you're raking your brain over the existence of God solely because you're afraid of death and must know for certain or expect some kind of tangible proof, you're on the wrong path.
The question of God's existence can be either a pitiful midwit behavior or extremely profound, depending on context.
