If this man can support a wife and 5 kids without a high school diploma or government welfare then why cant everyone else?

The average person outside of communities like that are completely atomised and reliant on the system. I know this because I see it everyday. Luckily I was born I to a tightknit community of my own people so I'm not cattle.

they still know how to build their own homes and grow their own food and don't need to contract foreigners, middlemen and banks that make housing prohibitively expensive.

Even the amish is reliant on the system.

No one is 100% off grid.

And if we all became rural and feudal, sure... we'd be 100% off grid, but we'd live in extreme poverty

Remember population hardly grew for millions of years... baby boom only happened with industrialization

Are you implying amish and mennonites aren't all on welfare? It's crazy how few people are actually aware of this

The Amish have big tight knit families while our boomer parents tell us to make our own banks and twitter or something like that in a debt based economy with no liquidity for white man.

Well yeah, we are all dependant on the system to some extent. But today, I don't know about South America but in Europe it's like a farm. From the moment you're born you're put in through the system to be moulded into a cog.

I'm genuinely curious to know how land ownership works in Amish communities. Like do they have deeds and make deals for plots of land before building a house? Or does the community just sort of pick a little plot of land for a newly wedded couple and then they build the house there? I'd imagine some of it is multi-generational housing but for the ones that aren't and need a new house, how does that work?

I occasionally see an Amish house on zillow, but also had them cancel on me because a family's building burned down and they all were getting together to build a new one.

Their economic system would be interesting to study.

It's not about knowing, it's about being allowed to do it
In most of the western world, you're not allowed to hit in a nail without a permit, while the streets are littered with the homeless

All cultures did that before feminism. If the woman in the photo decided to "contribute" by taking out doing Excel spreadsheets all day, they would lose everything.

Everyones goal is anything BUT family. If your honest goal is a family you will be able to provide for even 10 children.

True. Still, in a tightly knit community you can find people who will give you a good price for everything.
An individual without connections is getting ripped off left and right.
