>>507869659You seem to decry materialism and selfishness, yet you're also annoyed by other humans having experiences that don't benefit you. Every generation is here to profit from their time on earth, but you should try to connect the understanding that the "profit" in wealth and knowledge doesn't evaporate upon death. You personally are an incalculable accumulation of human profit. Labor, wealth, knowledge, philosophy. It may not feel like you benefit from it directly, but it isn't supposed to. Life isn't about feeling good for what you do or earn. That's the selfishness in you. Life is about feeling good about what WE do and earn. And you can look around it and see the fruit of that earning in everything. Every creation of man. Yet now you you are incapable of understanding that the point is to carry that forward into the future. In the same way that unknowable numbers of people have made your life better in immeasurably small ways, you have a burden, consciously or unconsciously, to do the same.
If your purpose seek a God or lack of one, then teach others how to seek it, because you yourself will not find the answer here, in your time. That is your burden, passed to you by others, with the understanding that there will be no rest for all who carry it in the future. You might say: what's the point, why should I try? And in that, you'll find the root of your selfishness and self-centeredness. One day someone will find the answers you cannot, and you'll be a link in that enormous chain, long after you are forgotten. That's the point.
