Have you been to yosemite? there's no fucking parking and you need to take a bus to get around. Most national parks need a reservation system in place to deal with the massive number of people but Yosemite in particular is a miserable place to go when it's busy.

pick a quiet time of year. yellowstone can be crap too because its so popular and everyone from around the world goes there in the summer. there are plenty of other great parks that are much quieter. i was in Arches on the 4th/5th July (it was free entry too) and the place was still barely populated. even wild camped by the road and nobody noticed.

Haven't been to a National Park since visiting Moab/Arches in 2020. Woke up at 4am and didn't have to interact with any park rangers at the entrance and gates were open. Got the first parking spot at Devils Garden and started walking for an hour in the dark but eventually had to wait for the sun to rise (to dangerous to continue). By the time I left the place was packed and was that asshole in the first spot going back and forth to his car watching everyone drive by asking if I was leaving. I can only imagine how bad its gotten since.
Same with Havasu Falls in the Grand Canyon. Social media ruined that hike and camp grounds because every asshole sees images and videos and believes it the new place they have to go. Similar to vacationing in "The New Cool European" country to visit over the past ten years.

mt Rainer is doing the same thing because they're getting 2 hour lines at park gates during peak hours
check the details if you want to visit the park some of these rules only apply to certain main gates
at mt Rainer it's the 2 main tourist gates google maps tries to lead you to but there are several other roads into the park that are open and not even monitored
