Isn't this literally how most of the US population lives? Except you usually get high interest quick debt, e.g. your credit cards. It's only a new thing here in Europe where getting into debt has always been harder. Klarna just gives you something similar to American debt taking except it's low/no interest instead.

I use it quite a lot but I rarely rack up more than a few hundred dollars worth before paying it off. Still nice to defer all payment to the end of the month, and also to not have paid for a product until you're sure it's as advertised (you have very good return laws here but I still prefer having the upper hand of not having paid yet).

Is this actually a loan? As in, they move money from their account to you then you pay the merchant? Or is it like a credit card where the merchant gets money out of thin air and then the credit card company demands you pay them that money that didn't exist plus interest?

funny thing is, klarna is losing millions of dollars with niggers making 1 or 2 payments then never paying it off. it takes 90 days for late/missing payments to go into a collections account which they lose about 30% of the money owed.

>the merchant gets money out of thin air and then the credit card company demands you pay them that money that didn't exist plus interest?

They pull the money out of thin air and usually make you pay 1/4 of it right there and then with 3-4 other payments separated out by a couple weeks, interest free. Last I heard they were a little under 5% of the loans are on late fees. They make more money being a payment processor for merchants because the merchants sell more if most people feel like they only payed 20% of the bill upfront.

From my understanding they make profit from companies paying fees to use their service and from customer choosing certain payment plans. They also do impose interest as a penalty for those paying too late but if you're a legit customer with money in your bank account this wouldn't impact you.

Klarna is the perfect example and lesson to other companies that if something works great in Scandinavia it doesn't mean it will work in America, for some "odd" reason, which we all know.
They will go completely bankrupt within few years just because they didn't understand the simple fact that some groups have no intention to pay your money back.

In the US you can get credit instantly, even someone with multiple defaults can get another credit card. The system assumes they'll fuck you with 30+% interest, but they don't realize 90% of Americans under 60 have 0 use for a good credit report. In the past it was worth the risk because people had a chance to buy a home, now no one cares because that isn't realistic on most wages. American banks are a pyramid scam and half their customers are scamming them. Any attempt at regulation reduces the consequences of not paying unsecured debts.
It's hilarious.

Not every merchant is trustworthy or will deliver the goods you asked for. Delaying payments through an intermediary until you've gotten the stuff is a way to minimize the risks of online shopping.
