It's only a new thing here in Europe where getting into debt has always been harder. Klarna just gives you something similar to American debt taking except it's low/no interest instead.
I use it quite a lot but I rarely rack up more than a few hundred dollars worth before paying it off. Still nice to defer all payment to the end of the month, and also to not have paid for a product until you're sure it's as advertised (you have very good return laws here but I still prefer having the upper hand of not having paid yet).
