He's facing down a no-win scenario what do you expect? If he goes forward with an air campaign or even worse a full on war with Iran, his Presidency is over. He will loose all support, Republicans will get slaughtered in the midterms, and Democrats will impeach him and will probably resume the lawfare for the rest of his life.

If he backs down on Iran enough Republicans will join in with Dems to impeach him, then Vance will just go ahead with the campaign against Iran anyway.
