>Brain scans revealed the damage: neural connections collapsed from 79 to just 42. That's a 47% reduction in brain connectivity.

Anti-AI chads vindicated once again. Using AI to create slop literally pajeetifies your brain, turning you into a mindless drone.

Millennials and older zoomers will be the last truly cognisant generation. Younger kids going through school now are cooked.

Oy yes, goy. Don't use AI to automate your job and earn bucks without working, let mr. shekelberg here use AI to do your job and fire you instead.

Whitepill? Most boomer bosses would rather pay you to learn how to make AI do what he wants than to learn AI himself.

Depends if you're using it to circumvent learning something in a more difficult way. If you don't need to learn something, but would rather ask chat instead of paying someone to do that thing, your brain will surely improve. It's very dynamic reading, that's it.

This is what I do. I’ll spend 30 minutes word vomiting every detail of what I need the end product to say, and I ask it to format it in a coherent way using such and such grade level and style of vocabulary.

I dont ask it to do anything I couldn’t do, or that I can’t easily verify within a few seconds. If you can write and aren’t an idiot, it’s a great time saver but if you’re a dumbass that gives it prompts like “write a book/song/program” and don’t even know what you’re talking about well enough to give it any specifics, it’s gonna rot your brain and make you look stupid. I think it’s funny that people are acting surprised that kids are using it to cheat at their homework when, if you don’t give it any stylistic guidelines, literally defaults to high school English class 5 paragraph essay stuke

I'm positive if this study was done when the calculator came out, there would be evidence of it "atrophying" your brain and whatever other horsehsit.

When technology replaces a labor that our minds used to occupy itself with, it just frees the mind to focus on another sector instead. Calcs didn't stop new geniuses from being born, it didn't stop people from being able to get smart, it just made them stop wasting time crunching numbers.

AI is the same.

I think the difference is ai outsources the reasoning process in itself. Search engines at least demand some research effort and synthesizing of different facts if you're doing anything other than wanting to learn some quick factoid.

Mathematical reasoning has definitely atrophied, but it was largely just limited to that specific domain for the average person. It's not like being trained well in maths necessarily means you're not good at reasoning generally.
Ai, on the other hand, streamlines the entire reasoning domain. So I don't think you can really compare ai with calculators. Your average person not being good at maths isn't such a big deal when it can be functionally replaced by a calculator, but your average person not being good at reasoning itself?
Of course this might be all overblown, hard to predict the future

this one youtuber (primagen) used to use it for everything
he often brings up that he got scared when he sat down to do a programming task without it and was drawing a complete blank on how do do something extremely basic he used to be able to do in his sleep

I dont super like his takes or his personality but I think there is a lot of merit to this anecdotal observation

>>507922953
but is it really a
>no shit
if people are instantly calling it bullshit or saying
>nu-uh does not affect me
like a lot of people in this thread are doing?

it is hard for me to see too much harm in using it to do tasks that you otherwise turn your brain off for like
>reformat this info as a table
or
>fill out these table fields with info from wikipedia

but when you start using it for actual reasoning there should be some room for pause+
