You have to understand a large portion of evangelicals honestly believe that their primary political directive is to serve and protect Israel and jewish interests. I have said this for years and evangelicals get so upset because their true honest belief and they cite the Bible as their source is that they are to put Israel's interests above even their own or that of their families and country

Just to add I went to a baptist church for years during the early and mid 2000s and even then the view was that God directs christians to protect and defend Israel. Many of the people took trips to Israel and there was no questioning Israel on any level. Near worship of modern jews and Israel not just the land of Israel during Bible times was just part of the process. There is lots more I could say
