I was regular enlisted in an anti-terrorist task force and had to get a TS clearance that had a 20 year non disclosure.

It was SEALs, Recon, SWCC and a couple boat crews (me).

We had two jobs intercept any inbound vessels and make sure no one drowned before they got to their sneaking spot. Sometimes we new the country, but never new the mission and we couldn't talk.

These podcast dudes are talking about missions, equipment, qualifications, training it just seems weird.

Think about it rationally for a second. Lets say you're in the army and you have the literal nuclear launch codes. The next day you retire. Do you think you'd suddenly be legally allowed to tell everyone those codes? No, obviously not.

You're never allowed to discuss anything until it's been declassified. Anyone who actually handles classified info knows this because you've got dozens of hours of tedious training on this subject that you have to do every year

They aren't always. Andy Stumpf had two guys on his show - one an officer from seal team 6, one a regular enlisted seal. Both of them mentioned being part of a mission in the 2000s involving subs that was famous within the seals, that allowed them to meet the president afterwards and to this day they still aren't allowed to discuss it (and that officer was on and could briefly talk about the Bin Laden raid). There was also one hilarious episode where a retard who got thrown out of the navy basically sat down and name dropped/bitched about everyone at seal team 6 and they had to bleep everything out. He was talking about one of their most high profile missions and all he focused on was why they weren't allowed to drop a bomb but the officers were allowed to buy new rugs. They generally only speak about what they know will be okay. See the team leader on the bin laden raid who said too much, got raided by the fbi and lost millions of dollars in seizures.

The Iraqis were dirt poor. Regardless, the first gunmen are killed on the bridge by the snipers. The snipers cannot leave the position to clear bodies and guns, not even to piss they have to go into a piss bottle. As more pedestrians start crossing later that night, they see the bodies and decide to loot. Once they pick up an ak they have armed themselves. They get shot too these looters. This process goes on all night. You have to be cool with killing like this in the military. We killed a shitload of Iraqis.
