Northen chinese and southern chinese difference. It’s similar to Mediterranean and Nordics. You can’t be that pale just with skin whitening. It’s either makeup or photoshop. There really are naturally pale East Asians though. North East part of Chinese continent. Japan has not been known for whiteness ever. They’ve always had browner complexion, short and hairy. And also I don’t really see that many “white” skin when I go see white people in the west. Some people really are white but half of them are probably reddish or orange sort of mystery meat but absolutely they’re caucasians but the skin isn’t really pale white

It wasn't until recently that people have better sun protection and jobs inside. Making skin colors paler overall in countries with more inside jobs are common.

The natural skin color for East Asians is a more paler color than some other groups if they don't go out in the sun., but they easily tan, creating a more yellowish look.
