>>507960338 (OP)Well the awnser is both yes and no. Well lets say that "God" is not just god but religious beliefs overall because not every relligion has a god but still serves similar purpose of giving moral compass to society.
Can a single person develop objective morality without a god? Yes.
Can we push moral compass into other people without a god. Yes
Can you except people to follow this moral compas all time without god? No.
Its all about moral development (pic related), in most cases people assume that each stage is developing upon reaching specific age which is not correct, its more about IQ and wisdom.
Only ones with highest minds develops final stages of moral development aka principles because high iq people are more likely to understand that cooperation is insanely good for humans also they understand that having rules makes people more trustworthy therefore better for cooperation.
But most of people usually stuck to low and middle stages of moral development where low stages is just aboiding punishment, basically as long as something is not forbidden under punishment, then its okay to do that even if it is still hurting others, middle stages is all about opinion you refuse to do some things not because you see them as bad but because it will make poeople talk bad things about you.
Higher stances of morality development is understanding mostly via empathy that some things are wrong and right. You know stealing is bad not because it is forbidden or because it makes people call you a nasty thief. You know stealing is bad because you understand that stealing is doing a bad thing to someone else.
So where is a role of god in there? Well god is here to push morality into people who have their morality developed at lower stages. If you make someone believe that doing bad things will lead to afterlife punishment no matter if he gets away, then for that person the only way to avoid punishment is not doing bad things.
