Meaning products no longer have to be of a certain quality to tempt consumers into buying them because this is no longer the primary source of revenue for corporations. They get it in various roundabout ways through indirect subsidies, corporate wellfare, the stock market, angel investors, data brokering in the case of big tech, etcetera. This is the simplest, most elegant explanation for the neet epidemic. When you can meet your basic needs, there is no need for extra income when there's nothing worth buying with it due to corporations no longer having to appease the consumer.

You graduate from high school, you go to college, you get good grades, you graduate, and you start a well-paying career within a few years or else you’re screwed. NEETs are most often people who stumbled climbing the cursus honorum. Many of them either didn’t go to college, dropped out of college, or were kicked out of college. As college and career have gotten increasingly fake and gay, increasingly performative, increasingly competitive, just worse in every way, the NEET problem is growing. If used to be the case that dropouts and the like could just go get decent jobs at a plant or the like or even start their own business because of the relatively low cost of capital. But now?
