If I could be healthy and alive for as long as I want and I can turn myself off when I want, that would be ok compromise with me. I have an ivy league degree and a full time job in a technical field. I hope that helps to place me in a safe zone.

The only problem is that I'm physically fit. I'm genuinely considering getting so fat and out of shape that I'm too unfit for service.

Of course all of this is null and void if things get so bad that we end up in Total Kreig, in which case all bets are off. All men, young and old, fit and unfit, will be thrust into combat. And at that point, I'd probably regret making myself fat and sluggish.

You can choose where to serve if you join military voluntarily. But my friend was mobilized and was told he'll be UAV operator. If it's some extremely good brigade and there's competition, as far as I know they prefer guys who have hundreds of hours of experience in fpv simulator. You can train for it easily, just need to buy the cheapest radiomaster tx and have an old PC, I know guys who did it. Also sometimes I see guys training with a real drone on the street, but not sure if it's legal lol. That was about fpv copter, in case of plane for intelligence the requirements should be lower.
