Why fucking go after Iran now?

Israel's dealing with Gaza/Palestinian terrorists still after the October terror attacks, so it makes zero sense to divide military resources to attack Iran until after Gaza annexation is done.

Trump's popularity is still high and he doesn't NEED to risk splintering his base by joining in a war to get a cheap bump in the polls.

Ukraine/Russia is still going strong and Ukraine is still a cause celeb amongst the left and Progressive Europe even with Trump pulling US support, so why fucking start another war that, like with Israel/Gaza, would only divide attention/resources from it?

There is no real reason to do it; Ukraine is still there if they need a war, Israel has their total Gaza annexation project going on and invading Iran will only hinder that especially since they have public support for total Palestinian death right now. And Trump's flying high in the polls with Democrats at their lowest ebbs in decades.

Iran is backed by Russia and has a network of proxy militants all throughout the middle east which threaten several strategic assets. The Houthis with shipping through the Suez, for example. This meant war with Iran always presented a disproportionately high risk of escalation, both for the US and Israel.

However, because of the way current events have progressed, Russia is preoccupied with an ongoing war that's drawing away too many resources to spare any in support of Iran. The Houthis sprung their main source of leverage and that conflict has been resolved. Hezbollah has been defeated. Assad in Syria has been deposed. And Hamas in Gaza is under siege and considerably diminished.
Iran's only remaining leverage in the region beyond its own domestically-supplied direct action are anti-US proxies in Iraq. Those proxies deter US involvement, but they don't deter Israel at all.

Basically Iran has never been more vulnerable to direct action since they began their nuclear program. Every layer of their deterrence onion has been peeled back, but that window of opportunity will gradually close as Hezbollah and the Houthis recover, and if Russia ends its war in Ukraine you can expect it to return in force to influence the region, especially in Syria. If there is a chance to end Iran's nuclear project through direct force, it's now or never.

The US doesn't really have a direct reason to get involved beyond 'helping our ally' but Trump is obviously interested principally because the impression from the first few days of conflict is that this will be an easy win for Israel and he wants a share of the glory. But cooler heads are weighing the costs and benefits while there are still combat-effective proxy groups within striking distance of US bases in Iraq and the gulf.

Ultimately for anyone below Scofield Bible age, this war really should not make sense to you because it actually doesn't make sense for you. It's a huge risk to take with the rest of your life and there's not any reasonable benefit to anticipate on the other side of it, especially if you're not living in Israel. Even if Iran got conquered, none of that black gold money would trickle down to you. If anything your life will get worse because the multinational corps/NGOs/state agencies that do get that money will just get more powerful and use that power to make your life worse, as they consistently have since the mid 20th century. And really, any effort that could be expended on fighting Iran would be much better spent resolving more pressing domestic issues; that's true for whatever country in the West you're posting from.

I see it as a pure boomer ego move to get that last invasion on the neocon bucket list checked before they gracelessly expire in the 2030s. It is likely also motivated by the building sense of dread among the grand chessboard class that the unipolar moment is indeed over for America.

Iran is 99% the source of funding and weapons used against Israel. Attacking Iran means the logistics to all of Israel's enemies collapse. Keeping the pressure on Iran means Iran can be kept paralyzed for months. If the US gets involved it takes Iran off the table and stops most of the violence in the middle east.

Iran cannot be allowed to have nukes because it's a rogue aggressor nation that actively arms anti-establishment militant groups throughout the middle east, and terrorist groups throughout the world. Were it to have nukes, it would undoubtedly pass nukes to the Houthis, with the express intent of using nuclear weapons in the red sea to disrupt maritime shipping. It would pass nukes to Hamas with the express purpose of using nuclear weapons in Israel, and it would pass nukes to international terrorist organizations with the express purpose of using those nuclear weapons in terror attacks on major population centers in Europe, North America, and wherever else Islam claims the kafir dwell.

It cannot be allowed to have nukes because it has stated, repeatedly, on official record, that the purpose for its nations existence is the destruction of Isreal and it would stop at nothing to achieve this. A nuclear weapon would be the means to do this.

And finally, probably most obviously, is that Mutually Assured Destruction only works as deterrent when neither side is delusional or suicidal. Iran is both, and thus the reality is that the odds are overwhelmingly high they would seek to use nuclear weapons, either directly or via proxy, to attack non-muslims the world over regardless of the inevitable retaliation.

These are the basic principles upon which Nuclear Non-Proliferation are predicated. Iran has repeatedly and unequivocally demonstrated that it cannot be trusted with the responsibility of bearing doomsday weapons responsibly. And so it will not.
