i always had to work on holidays. they were never 'paid' days off, if i did get the day off. so, a holiday off was just a day i didn't earn any money.

i enjoy having the day off, but if given the choice i'll almost always choose to work, especially for time and a half. i have more than once volunteered to work on christmas so that a coworker with a family could be home with them, because i knew i wouldn't be able to be with my family anyway since they're far away.
