when i was working hospitality in college, holidays were a very busy time and, as is often the case, everyone wants them off so there's typically a requirement for employees to work a certain number of holidays. i remember my family getting so mad when i had to work christmas and thanksgiving but, given that none of them are as stupid as me, they never had to work a job like that and didn't seem to realize you'd just get fired if you didn't come in.
