On June 19, 2025, Israeli Ambassador to Japan Gilad Cohen strongly criticized Chinese Consul General in Osaka Xue Jian for posting on X on the 14th that equated Nazi Germany with Israel. Xue's post was later deleted.
Comparing Nazis and Israel
It all started with an image posted by Xue on the night of the 14th.
As the military conflict between Israel and Iran continues, the image showed the Nazi German flag with the symbolic "swastika" blurred next to the Israeli flag, comparing the two.
The Nazis were compared as "the Jews were massacred" and "America is an enemy country," while the Israelis were compared as "the Jews were massacred" and "America is an ATM." Furthermore, he listed the commonalities between the two, such as "we are a special and sacred nation," "we put a lot of our national power into the military," "we ignore international law," and "we advance settlements on occupied land."
