Benzion was his father. How illiterate do you need to be to not tell apart the man from his father? The father changed his last name from a random Polish one to a Hebrew one. That was before Benjamin was born.

Jews didn't use to have last names before some law in Europe required every person to have a last name, so they picked random shit in the countries they lived in. They went with city names, or with their jobs. That's how you get names like Zuckerberg. Probably some generations ago he had a candymaker in his family.
When people arrived to Israel, some decided to get rid of those ridiculous foreign names and adopt more local or culturally-appropriate names, to assimilate better. Adopting a different name in another country is not a wild, rare or Jewish practice.
