I know two people who moved to the US and they're hard-working and ambitious, but at the same time they couldn't make it here for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes it's just bad luck, or they're not suited to a particular situation.

For example, there are hundreds of thousands of BRs in Portugal. Yet if you look at in proportionally, there's a higher percentage of Portuguese living in Brazil than of Brazilians living in Portugal.

It's simple. From these peoples' collective point of view, all of the prosperity that whites enjoy was ill-gotten. Whether through colonization or some other form of oppression, they see white people as not earning it. So they truly believe that if they move to the white country and take it over, they'll be the ones prospering now.
They truly believe white countries are prosperous because of the land they sit on. As if you flipped the population of Somalia and Sweden (which is damn near happening), Swedish people would just start raping and killing each other en masse and destroy all of their infrastructure.
It applies to practically everything. Schools are a microcosm, for example. They blame the schools, buildings, teachers, books, hell they'll even blame a desk for falling apart before blaming the real problem: shitty kids raised by shitty parents that don't give a fuck. They truly believe that if their piece of shit kid went to a better school, they would magically not still be a piece of shit kid raised by piece of shit parents.

So, they are able to do what american blacks did: they are capable of doing the equivalent of cotton picking under white power structures, because only under such structures they can overcome their natural tendencies of corruption and lazyness.
