There are so many things that we’re supposed to trust the experts or established knowledge on that have turned out to be false or outright lies during our lifetimes even that it becomes somewhat illogical not to at least question even the most given of facts.

Like I’m 99% sure the earth is round but acknowledging that you’re too dumb or lack the specialized knowledge to know whether the methods that supposedly irrefutably prove it is are valid can’t be overruled either.

It’s not a question of trusting the experts but the impossibility of knowing who the experts of facts really are in any given situation.
