SpaceX is still planning on sending 5 starships during the next Mars transfer window.
A rocket blowing up while doing fire tests IS bad, but now they can evaluate exactly what went wrong and prevent that point of failure causing this problem later when it matters more.
The rocket was only 10-15% full of fuel so the explosion wasn't anywhere near as big as it would have been if it was fully loaded, and there were no humans anywhere nearby when it happened so nobody got hurt. It's a pretty good silver lining but a very expensive lesson.

Not the engineer's fault, actually. They came to him with a solid design for a rocket. The rocket was just made out of lightweight carbon fiber. SpaceX businessmen decided that was too expensive, and demanding they build it out of stainless steel instead. Which is cheaper, but heavier, and completely fucks all of the mathematical assumptions that the rocket was built around.
Essentially all of the SpaceX failures come down to trying to jam a square peg through a round hole. They are trying to do juuuuust enough redesign work to magically make a complete change of building materials work with the rocket design they have, instead of either using the original materials or paying for a complete redesign of the rocket to use the materials they insist on using.

The engineers not being white isn't the problem, the business being run by morons who have no understanding of the technology the business depends on are.
