At a surface level, romantically, I like it.
But there's a good reason it was outlawed. It's a very efficient way to cull men that might be great a myriad of things except dueling. Which isn't a useful skill in itself. It doesn't produce anything of value for yourself, your loved ones or your community at large.
Still a super cool concept. There's a reason most action movies end up in a 1v1 were they fight on equal grounds, or why they were added to so many westerns, or why it has been present in stories since ancient poems.

I duel with drones

You only challenge someone to a duel who has damaged your honour, you don't challenge someone to a duel because you hate them.
While you could challenge someone to a duel just because you hate them, they would just tell you to go away, they wouldn't accept.

You challenge someone to a duel because they have embarrassed you, to prevent them doing it again. And the reason they would accept is because they believe that they did nothing wrong. So a scoundrel wouldn't accept your duel either, and thus you would reclaim your honour mostly by declaring they were a scoundrel

Fencing as a sport is sort of secondary, it's a hallmark of the elite officers class, theoretically any officer can challenge any person of the same rank to a duel, as a way of resolving conflicts between officers. The army in particular is not keen on loosing all their officers this way but to some extent cannot stop them, and would rather they settled it between themselves then involve the rank and file
