Everyone would be amazed at the decisive and immediate defeat of Iran. After this short celebratory period, US would send in troops where they would then be cut off from the world. Iran’s terrain alone provides Iranian soldiers with the capability to entrap US soldiers behind enemy lines. Supply lines would be cut off, and air supply missions would be a very dangerous endeavor every single time. Many helicopters would be shot down from the ground, despite American air superiority. Just like it was in Afghanistan and Iraq.
When this phase of the war begins, it will have to become a forever war because the Iranians will not allow safe passage for American troop retrieval. America will destroy Iran, much in the same way they destroyed Iraq in 2003-2011. Who benefits most with Iran being utterly destroyed and American being entrapped in another forever war that accomplished nothing? Israel.
At this point, Trump’s only card is to say he will nuke Iran if they do not allow American troops to leave. And then what happens? Iran seeks out Putin’s guidance. Putin then easily tells trump that if they nuke Iran, he nukes the US.
America cannot win a war in Iran. The only outcome benefits Israel and potentially Russia. US will get embarrassed globally, will sink trillions of dollars, and who knows how many will die.
My main concern right now is that Trump is a TV personality, not a war strategist. His only concern is create the illusory image that he is the strong tough man. His shock and awe campaign at the start of the conflict will further boost his popularity and it will drag him further down.
