i use sharex to screen shot the pics i want right off the google page. nukes the metadata. discontinues the image's binary used to track it. no fancy javascript stopping me from saving the pic either. if it displays on my screen it goes on my hard disk.

You shouldn't have to convert. WebP displays fine, you just cannot upload them. The whole point of WebP is that the it uses less data, 4chan could save money on Cloudlare hosting images, but no, adding a ".webp" extension to the file uploader filter is TOO HARD.
