to offload information processing. 100 years ago you could in theory learn everything that science was up to and hold it in your head, today it's impossible. you can still learn fundamentals but everything else is impossible due to sheer volume of data, so what happens is retards keep working on same problems that been already resolved decades ago and only find out there were already solutionsi when try to publish paper of their discovery. Intelligence is defined as the ability to apply acquired knowledge or skills. By this definition even animals have intelligence. I think it's safe to assume everybody knows what intelligence is. I think you're mistaking intelligence with omniscience. AI would only be capable, ideally, of acquiring all knowledge that is known to man (assuming all knowledge is uploaded in some way). This still would not be omniscience because there are things people do not know. It isn't helpful that some certainties contradict each other, which would make a truly unbiased intelligence incapable of reaching a conclusion. Then there are lies, and man's need to control the message in one way or another. In the end AI is useful as a research assistant, but a seeker should always be looking at the sources, and maybe a little bit critical of who designed the AI and what agenda they might have.
