No, I think at 38 you need to come to terms with your limitations. The VA recently agreed to send me back to school, but I'm realizing that I'm not college material and I never was. I think the solution is to be grateful for what you have, accept that you're not going to have a house, but be happy with the apartment. Hopefully the woman moving in with me sees it this way.

Well it's also too late for me to learn a trade, haha. I have a steady job that doesn't pay very well, but I don't mind it that much either. I think I'm going to stay where I am until I die. Maybe I'll switch departments, but I'll still stay with the same people. It's a SOMEWHAT prestigious job, but not really.

You suffer depression. The role you are playing now is not what you are at core and your self is revolting against it. At 38 you can still be what you are supposed to be, you just have to put all your energy into it. Otherwise enjoy the rest of life in misery. That's all there is to it.
