I had an old coworker that was Basque and he told me they had their own language with no connection to Latin based languages and basically they've been doing their own thing in the mountains of Spain for thousands of years. Seems pretty based to me

They're still West Eurasians. Paleo-European languages are distantly related to Indo-European languages. I had a Spanish teacher that immigrated from Basque country to the US. Spanish was her second language after Euskara.
