That doesn't include the cost of complexity to the grid to integrate renewables. The fact that there needs to be gas peaker plants that sit idle and ramp up during peak hours. It's all expensive in the end and it just gets taged onto consumer cost of electricity. If it was truly cheap, then Ireland and the UK should have the cheapest electricity in the world, but it's the opposite. Ireland literally has the highest cost in the entire world. I get the idea of wanting to achieve energy independence, but they will never actually achieve that so long as renewables continue to be unreliable and difficult to integrate.
