How're my fellow /pol/tards hanging in there. This is a political thread, because the /pol/tard should be taken as a whole being, and not just a mindless consumer of image board threads.
Here's to hoping you're finding your /pol/-life balance, amigos.
I'm still in shock not only that he finished Smile but that it wound up being glorious.
>>508283527 (OP)I feel great, some anon here recommended me something and it feels good for my energy
>>508283527 (OP)I saw Brian Wilson live in concert about 15 years ago. I say live but I am using that word very loosely in this case. It's amazing he held out as long as he did. I love Smile by the way, great record.
I had a dream
That I was three hundred pounds
And though I was very heavy
I floated 'til I couldn't see the ground
I floated 'til I couldn't see the ground, oh
Somebody help me
I couldn't see the ground
Somebody help me
Couldn't see the ground
Somebody help me
Because I'm
I'm lyin' in bed
Just like Brian Wilson did
Well I'm
I'm lyin' in bed, just like Brian Wilson did, oh, yeah
Drove downtown in the rain
Nine thirty on a Tuesday night
Just to check out the late night
Record shop
(Late night record shop)
Call it impulsive
You can call it compulsive
And you can call it insane, oh, oh
But when I'm surrounded I just can't
Stop
>>508283804It probably helped that he got that version with The Wondermints down and had that to go off of when he went back to assemble it. Truthfully speaking it's less shocking that he was able to do so with modern studio technology. Brian made music the way nearly all music is made now when the technology to do so did not quite exist. It was a painstaking process even with the best technology back then.
>>508285880I'm not talking about the tech aspects of it, I'm saying that it seemed like his brain was swiss cheese after Landy. To be able to assemble all those bits and pieces into a coherent whole decades later is amazing. Plus during the making of the original smile he kept changing his mind about it every other day.
>>508286749Yeah I see what you mean. But if you've listened to both the 2004 version and the final version completed from the original tapes they have basically the same structure. There's not much of a difference at all besides obviously the modern sounding production and Brian's voice. We had all kinds of different bootleg versions where people constructed the elements to make it how they thought it should be and Brian finally gave us his definitive version based on what he claims is how he remembered it should be.
>>508285109I've been watching some YouTube content on him and their catalog since his passing. A true genius.
>>508285296These are challenging times, anon. Godspeed.
