Taiwan is actually pretty friendly with China and they do lots of trade. Those are LITERALLY Han Chinese on that island. And Taiwan talk instantly rallies nationalism at home.

It would be like the US leaving Cuba (like it does now) alone if all the Dixies moved there after the civil war. They won't do shit (except that time USSR tried to give them nukes). US politicians would just talk about something Cuba had wronged us, how they are evil commies, or whatever. Then all the people Dems/Republicans will bleed patriotism and have unity.

Americans don't really like moving out troops despite what our media says. We were mostly isolationists profitting from trade during WW1/WW2 and even WW0 if you count the Napoleonic wars as the pre-WW. We only got in later when sides were weaker or our trade interests were impacted.
