biblical literalism discards the very notion of contextualization and removes the practice of actually thinking about the text (which has existed from the beginning with havruta), with anyone dissenting being told their faith isn't strong enough. binary thinking is a trauma response, and its far easier to manipulate and predict people in fight or flight mode, so why wouldn't they believe they are literally living out biblical narratives? every social tool that could be used to grow beyond that extreme idea has been systematically removed
