Reposting because I think this warrants discussion. Everyone is freaking out over the US striking Iran when it's really not a big deal

Anyone else not worried or bothered at all by the Iran strikes? I can't explain it, but I just don't really care. I don't think this will lead to a wider conflict or US ground troops in Iran. Everyone is freaking out saying we're "being dragged into war" and I just don't see it. We did some military strikes to help out Israel. Iran's air defenses are destroyed, and there's only so many missiles they can fire. Russia said they aren't helping Iran.

People are posting doom and gloom acting like this will be like Iraq but 10x worse and it just doesn't make sense to me. This won't even be 1/10th as bad as Obama's decision to remove Ghaddafi from Libya. Practically a nothingburger. I'm not even trying to be a "nothing ever happens" fag, because I do think there will be long term consequences from this, I just don't think that they'll be bad. There's a big chance that a degraded Iranian government, weakened by US and Israeli strikes, collapses from within, and a new Persia rises that is not based on a regressive form of Islam.

I don't feel a sense of panic or betrayal like I did when Trump did those first missile strikes on Assad in 2017. I pretty much expected Trump to do this. It's a limited strike, he'll claim total victory, and at the end of the day nothing bad happens

Literally this, Iran's air defenses are gone, they aren't capable of fighting a war. Once their government is sufficiently degraded, the people will either rise up, or the Iranian government will be forced to step down, and Reza Pahlavi will take their place. They'll have a new government, Islam will lose control of a country for the first time in generations, and the world will get better.

There's no scenario where the US sends in ground troops and it becomes Iraq 2.0. For one, that's not necessary, but even if it happened, Iranians wouldn't resist like Iraqis, because they hate their government to an extreme degree as witnessed by opposition protests year after year. Two, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the middle east sunnis do not like Iran. There's no scenario in which millions of Sunnis (the majority of Arabs) pour into Iran as insurgent fighters. On top of that, even though Iran is majority Muslim, a lot of them still hate Arabs in general and have a resentment against them for imposing Islam (even if they do agree with it, kind of like how black Christians can still dislike white people).

War is different now. The only downside is if Iran has some successful retaliation, but even if they do, it will be short-lived

They use that for propaganda purposes, but if they invaded, they wouldn't win. Just look at a photo of the average NK soldier compared to SK soldier. South Koreans are like a foot taller due to better nutrition. North Koreans are weaklings by comparison.

Iran violated the treaty by attempting to proliferate when they shouldn't have done so. The UN is gay and has no legal authority anyway. Trump isn't doing a massive invasion, thus there is no need to go to the UN and try to make a case and bring other countries on board. It's a puppet state and is not genuinely opposed to the west. That's why these strikes are relatively meaningless. The end result of this will be a secular Iran that still has nuclear power and weaponry but one that is one the side of the west instead of the China/Russia axis. It's the long con.
