the GBU 57 freefalls at close to mach 1 430 meters per second it doesnt have enough kinetic energy to rely on it alone for penetration. what it does have is a copper-lined shaped charge driven by 350kg of PBXN-114 that can cut a 60 meter shaft into granite

>but granite is soo hard i know from my egypt aliens documentary

well a shaped charge makes the copper jet move at mach 50 (38,000 miles per hour). at that speed its like poking a screwdriver through cottage cheese

the liner jet of a shaped charge moves at double the detonation velocity of the explosive driving it. PBXN-114 has a detonation velocity of 8000 meters per second making the jet 16,000 meters per second. thats mach 50, or 50 times the speed of sound

Something I never see mentioned is that a hardened underground facility would likely use cast refractory instead of regular old concrete in its lining. Cast refractory can be as hard as a 9 on the mohs scale (compared to 6-8 for granite) and has a much higher thermal shock value than natural rock or concrete, meaning it can withstand higher temperatures and pressure before breaking.

How thick and what sort of refractory might these facilities have? None of the OSINT internet bs artists ever bring this up. Not that it matters, because Iran publicly said they removed all nuclear materials from this facility last week lol.

It's like that hospital and apartment complex in Isreal that Iranian missiles took out initially. They were slated for demolition according to older Isreali news articles.

This shit is so fake and gay.

Where did you people get this image from?
After a certain point, speed stops mattering so much since added velocity of the penetrator means material has to be moved away faster (requiring more energy) but until you teach those speeds, the penetration to velocity relationship acts like a quadratic.

The publicly declared 60M figure comes from a series of aproximations and is based on the Newtonian aproximation
Density of bomb ≈ 20 g/cm3
Density of rock ≈ 2.0 g/cm3
Length of GBU 57 ≈ 6 M
D ≈ 6*20/2 = 60m

retards, all of you. Unless you use nuclear evaporation, you can't just dig into the ground like in your video games, you need to displace the material to somewhere or melt it into a more dense state. 2T of explosives are not enough to melt a thick layer of granite.
The advertised "up to 60m*" are probably measures for beach sand, which can easily be displaced to the sides at that depth.

If the bomb is 32 inches in diameter and penetrates 90m (270 feet) concrete cap on top of the lab, it has to displace or melt about 1500 cubic feet of concrete. This doesn’t even account for penetrating the granite. Let’s say there’s 200 feet of granite then 270 feet of concrete, now you gotta displace or melt 2500 cubic feet of very hard material that becomes harder and more dense when it’s melted.

Since you understand the science so well i want to learn from you, maybe everyone here is wrong and it can penetrate that much ( even though its own manual says it cant) , the only saving grace is if it hit a ventilation shaft but thats also dodgy since A) we dont know that via this surface pic and B) which one and whats the mapping and degree angle of said shaft, can it create a draft or a wind tunnel, so fill us in

Hey chat mask you summin
To melt 1 cubic foot (≈0.0283m3) of granite from near room temperature, you need to:
1. Heat it from ~20°C to ~1,260°C (the melting point)
Density ≈2,640–2,760kg/m3 mass ≈75–78kg (say 76kg)
Specific heat ≈790J/(kg·K)

ΔT ≈1,240K (from 20 to 1,260°C)
Q1 = m × c × ΔT ≈ 76kg × 790J/kg·K × 1,240K ≈ 74MJ
2. Melt it at its melting point (latent heat of fusion)
Latent heat ≈300kJ/kg
edubirdie.com
+1
engineeringtoolbox.com
+1

Q2 = 76kg × 300kJ/kg = 22.8MJ
Total theoretical energy
Q_total = Q1 + Q2 ≈ 74MJ + 22.8MJ ≈ 97MJ
Practical considerations
That's the ideal, minimum energy.
In a real-world scenario, with heat losses, inefficiencies, water presence, re-radiation, etc., you may need 2–10× more energy .
So practically, you'd likely use 200–1,000MJ to melt a cubic foot of granite.
Final estimate
Stage Energy
Heating to melt point ≈74MJ
Melting (latent) ≈23MJ
Theoretical total ≈97MJ
Real-world estimate 200–1,000MJ

Assume
> penetrator velocity < speed of sound in rock
> Penetrator coheisive forces at this velocity are relatively much greater than the impacted material (ignore pic related)

The aproximation reduces to aconservation of momentum problem. Mass displaced = Mass of displacing object. Increasing the diameter of the object increases both the mass of displaced matter but also the mass of the displacor in direct proportion. The problem then reduces to the relative density of the material displaced, and the mass of a uniformly dense object is proportional to its length.

The upper bound per MOP is something like 70m of soil. Or 35 meters of soil plus 25 feet of high performance concrete, which is the "bunker" concrete you reference.

it's a 20 foot, 15 ton lawn dart falling at terminal velocity
the earliest bunker busters used rockets during freefall to accelerate and get enough kinetic force behind them to punch through concrete fortifications, and the weapon that's going to replace (or supplement) the MOP is going to use rockets the same way

surprisingly, it turns out that relying on mass alone for penetration means you need a very big, very heavy bomb and that comes with a lot of drawbacks

Well that's a fundamental problem with these kinds of weapons. You don't know you've successfully built a weapon until you've tested it. Testing it of course means blowing it up, which then means you don't have the weapon anymore and you have to build another one, or more, since it would be good to test if the new ones are working as well... Any excuse to blow them up is good i guess when you're a weapons manufacturer.

>*Depth varies based on the material being pierced
BECAUSE THE DENSITY OF THE MATERIAL BEING PENETRATED IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF THIS EQUATION.
Think retard, think if it can penetrate 60m* underground of a ( what it looks from diagram ) dirt soil composition then granite would be 10 to 20 at best, also again the only thing that could spread would be a lucky hit on a vent system that straight feeds to the reactor and the fireball through the backdraft turns everything to dust but...
>A. that's very hard and also how the ventilation vents are shaped matters a whole lot here
>B. No heatmap or IR of the impacts ( noone can tell just from the surface at such an operation, by default it failed except if there is footage proving it didnt that shows what i talked about )

Subsidence scans of the ground reveal all truth. We can see even 1cm movements from the satellites in orbit you greco nigger. I'd expect you to know this because of earthquake faultlines. The fact of the matter is that any external visual indication of subsidence occurring in the target area indicates a significant structural impact. Bunker busters are designed to compromise a structure even if they dont outright destroy it. Your femboy nigger architecture is proof of what even small changes to the land can do.

And the mountain is granite and not Rolled Homogeneous Armor.
The materials used to construct the curve are irrelevant to the point I'm making. Same goes with the numbers on the margins. I was talking about the behavior of the curve.

The argument people posting the Newtonian approximation are making is that penetration is independent of velocity, which is ostensibly not true at the speeds the bombs would be falling at.

>>508336632
So long as the bombs are built to sufficiently tight tolerances, you can expect any future munitions to behave at about the average of the ones dropped in this mission.
Though thing may change if we decide we really like the things and move to mass production. But that could go either way.

Iran has all the missile platforms needed to deliver the payload. Id already bet Iran has 1-6 nuclear warheads already. Really just obtaining and showing they have a nuke makes the US look horrible. Kikes launched the air raid first because they knew Iran already has a nuke. Now the game is attempting to slow Iran's production, IMO. Which is why decentralizing the process to other US Adversaries would be a hard to counter move for Iran to take. Like if Iran sends nuclear scientists to live and work in North Korea to make nukes, then the US has to fuck with Kim who has Chinese and Russian backing. If Iran were smart they would see that the Jews will attack ANY nuclear power in the middle east that isnt Israel. So the obvious solution without firing a shot is for Iran to give nuclear to All of Israel's enemies. Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, etc. Anyone who the Jews held the gun to under the table. Once their targets multiply, The Samson Option gets pulled into a regional defense policy because there would be too many targets next door to send nukes at the world powers out of spite.

No, it can't. The 60 meters is if it impacts dead-on with optimal soil conditions. For hard substances like granite or heavily reenforced concrete, you're looking at maybe 12 meters, if that.

A Tandem warhead, kind of like the heavier RPG7 rockets. Basically a shaped charge explodes first designed entirely to penetrate, allowing the second, bigger explosive to do more damage. At least that's the concept, and likely why they are so heavy. Tandem RPG7 warheads are kind of notorious for cutting the effective range in half due to their weight.

Iranian cunts had: ICBM's - of limited range, for now, but an active program to make them intercontinental.
Active Nuke Enrichment Program - they were already past 60% which isn't needed at all for civilian reactors, so everyone knows what they were trying to make.
Active Explosive Lensing Tests - if you know, you know why this would be helpful.
Deuteriam Mining: Again, IFKYK - that is the prime fusion component for a multi-stage bomb.

In short, these cunts wanted to wind up just like the Paki's and Pajeets and NK fuckers and to threaten the whole planet.
The big question that needs to be answered is if those MOP's actually worked or not.

I made a thread a couple days ago explaining that the US has a space-based weapon like a railgun that shoots spears that can go up to 1km deep in the ground. I explained you would know this is true if the government claimed it blew up something 300 meters underground using a bomb that penetrates 60 meters. Well, here we are, with the US government insisting that a bomber has done something mathematically impossible.

the argument these morons are putting out here is no different than someone claiming total victory if NORAD was hit with a bombing run. it does not make any sense.

it is a fucking mountain. and satellite images dont mean shit. nobody knows the extent of the damage.
it is all hurra propaganda garbage at this point.

You are part of the reason why normies won’t take 9/11 discussion seriously. White normies see retarded 80 is turkroach drivel and discredit it, and then begin to associate 9/11 skeptics with tard-ass shitskins

Many AP rounds are made with tungsten alloy cores so I can understand the confusion but, shaped charges are almost always conical soft metals, by necessity of the design (as you appear to know).

Regardless, I don't believe Raytheon or whomever's stats on this particular bomb, and I doubt anything of importance was damaged in these strikes, or if they even occurred.

With that said, and just going off publicly available knowledge, there most certainly is a way to penetrate 100's of meters of granite in a tubular fashion with explosives but, no militaries are going to talk about it until they have to/want to.

Devices to see into the future. It was Trump's first term, and they didn't expect him to win.
They plan for certain events to happen, and then they look into the future and see if what they planned will lead to the desired outcome. So they planned to frame Assad of using chemical weapons and bombing him in return. They look into the future and they see Assad being framed and an airport being bombed. To them, it would seem like the plan will work. In comes Trump and wins. But he too knows that if he wouldn't have bombed the airport, they would have seen it and thus would have predicted he would win. So he bombs some irrelevant airport and gives Assad ample warning to evacuate it.
The way i see it is the bad guys already ensured a certain future for us, all we can do now is maybe choose in which way this future will materialize and how we will respond to it.

That's for mass though isn't it?
>I don't believe Raytheon or whomever's stats on this particular bomb
It's a commercial product. They hyped and sold it. The Iranian bunkers at hand here would require a custom developed multistage MOAB type weapon which the US simply doesn't have available at this time.

They dropped 14 MOABs on and around Forow, none of them did anything significant. Not that i'm an Iranian shill, but I don't believe the Muslims are as retarded as our Governments would have us believe, pretty sure they build the bunkers understanding that there was little the US could do about them aside from a massive sustained bombing raid would be obnoxiously tedious to pull off. Also, the US probably depleted a hunge chunk of it's MOAB arsenal on this

>there most certainly is a way to penetrate 100's of meters of granite in a tubular fashion with explosives but, no militaries are going to talk about it until they have to/want to.
Sure there's ways of doing it but between the super concrete and granite it's going to be an exceedingly tough nut to crack

I don't think it's as hard a nut to crack as you would believe, it's just that you're going off the math of conventional explosives and never seeing the bits of data we got in the past 60 years of underground nuke tests is all.

And you are correct on the assumptions of "super concrete". I brought up castable refractory earlier itt. It's actually a very common item in certain heavy industries. It's odd to me that it never gets mentioned.

Anyway I encourage you to keep digging fren.

Consecutive strikes to a hole wouldn't be all that effective, the rubble would collapse in behind leaving voids which would reduce the effectiveness of the next bomb, somewhat negating the effectiveness of consecutive explosion

How the fuck do you expect a ‘spec ops’ mission like that to work, macaco? You can’t just fly a helicopter into the middle of Iran. The most well-trained and equipped teams ever would have a very hard time gaining access to a bunker designed to hold up against nuclear attack. It would also be a suicide mission, how do you plan to get them out of there once it’s all said and done?

The fact that it is now rubble instead of solid rock is the entire point. It can simply be pushed aside because the density is drastically reduced.

There's this weird thing where the legit truth slips out all the time... conspiracy people call it the revelation of method but, I don't believe that's accurate. Imagine placing ~12 PVC pipes into a large box set in concrete. Now, someone gives you a handful of AP rounds as says, "destroy that entire thing"

You may or may not have some luck with a shaft or two, but destroying the entire structure is going to be rather challenging
