I'm going to a wedding in a week and I'm honestly confused what the point of any of this shit is.

Maybe it's just me but this entire process feels very narcissistic. I've been in my county's courthouse before and seen people get married there without any hassle, and to me that feels like what you're supposed to do. If the only real benefit to marriage in 2025 is financial security (lol, lmao) then why feign it as being so important? It's no different from a LARP at that point.

It makes sense from the brides perspective because women have been brainwashed since birth to believe that their wedding day is supposed to be the best most magical most memorable day of their lives. I mean, a wedding is a special occasion that should be celebrated obviously but spending thousands on what is essentially a massive party is new. Should go back to just being close family and friends and having the reception at home.

The original point is to proclaim in front of your local community that from now on you're a family.
But of course it's now just a party so you can do some circus tricks, spend money (and get some from the guests). Especially pointless when you know 50% of these weddings will end up with a divorce.
