>Country with tons of oil, gas, mountains for hydro and space for windmills/solar desperately wants nuclear power to the point it is building massive underground facilities for refining and risking war with US/Israel

I'm not Pro-Israel in anyway but are there anyone out there actually buying Iran's explanation? Especially since it can just buy low-enriched uranium from Russia for those nuclear power plants.

First nation we should be disarming is Israel

they are literally in the process of murdering tens of thousands of gazans with an aeriel bombing campaign. Any other country of Israel's size doing this would've been invaded by the US already.

I don't give two shits about nuclear proliferation in Iran. Israel has hundreds of ICBM's and nuclear weapons. They're the actual nuclear proliferation risk and in violation of every international law regarding them.

You want to diversify your energy mix. And Iran's oil production is located in its most vulnerable areas, close to the Arab states. This weakness has been exploited before. So wanting nuclear energy for civilian purposes isn't hard to understand. But that doesn't mean that they don't also want nuclear weapons.

Wind/solar isnt as guaranteed as nuclear energy. Oil and gas will eventually run out. Nuclear energy not so much. Iran already exports most of its oil/gas due to global demand. With the population growing power scarcity and rolling blackouts is becoming more common. A shift to nuclear energy would allow them to use that energy for utilities and free up more gas/oil for export. Iran has little reason to trust western corporations and countries for uranium and other nuclear supplies. See current events. Its was inevitable some "western ally" would eventually throw a fit a levy bombs so if they had relied on western countries from the start they'd now be even more fucked supply line wise. Plus the possibility of sanction and embargo. Im not saying any of this is true but it makes sense. Also though I dont see why any country is allowed to have nukes if another can't. Thats so gay. Either everybody gets them or nobody does. Its not like its some crazy future tech its just a bunch of silly red tape wether they wepoanize it or not. So for that does it even matter what there nuclear program is for.

-supply wise this also holds true for solar/wind. If they rely on western countries the rate of cuck goes up exponentially. I dont necessarily support Iran but it is exposing the blatant hypocrisy in global politics quite nicely on multiple fronts. Obviously we shouldn't want Iran to have nukes buy it really begs the questions who should have nukes and whats the right way to go about it? I get these are munitions that could change the world irreversibly but it all seems a bit gay.

But what about the argument from the other direction. Full invasion of Iraq. WMD clearly a lie. Invasion of Afghanistan over9\11,when all terrorists , under official story , were Saudis and the plot could have been hatched by any Muslim group legally at any American university. Libya invaded under "just enforcing a peace keeping no fly zone to protect Libyan civilians from their government." Obama and allies literally are by the book war criminals for such a scam.So with that history, if you were any other country in the world why would you not be building up every possible war project you could?

Donโ€™t forget ISIS and the Muslim Brotherhood Arab Spring.
Donโ€™t forget that the Iranian revolution in 1979 was to depose a puppet dictator installed by the US, and the US responded by supporting Saddam Hussein in the 8 year Iran-Iraq War that Iraq started trying to grab the Shatt-Al-Arab.
Donโ€™t forget the west sold chemical weapons to Iraq that he used against Iranian soldiers and civilians as well as his own people.

The Iran monarchy has been in existence for some time, 1906. The last dynasty took power in 1941. US had nothing to do with it. The US only backed the last monarch when the Prime Minister tried to depose him and become a dictator.

I just don't get this. You can make a nuke at home, the concept is easy and these you can find everything on the internet. The only reason why we don't have schizos threatening to detonate entire cities is because they can't get enriched uranium.
Don't tell me a country like Iran can't get their hands on this after decades.

>IAEA definitions
>Commercial nuclear reactors typically use low-enriched uranium (LEU), which is enriched to about 3-5% uranium-235 (U-235).
>Highly enriched uranium (HEU) is typically defined as uranium that has been enriched to a concentration of 20% or more of uranium-235 (U-235). For military applications, weapons-grade uranium is usually enriched to 90% or more U-235.

>The highest commercial enrichment level currently used is typically around 5% uranium-235 (U-235) for most nuclear reactors. However, there are advancements in higher enriched fuels, such as those being tested at up to 6% U-235, which could enhance reactor performance and efficiency.
>High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium (HALEU) is commercially enriched between 5% and 20% in uranium-235 (U-235). Currently, only a few countries, including Russia and China, have the infrastructure to produce HALEU at scale, while the U.S. is beginning to ramp up its production capabilities.
Enriching uranium past 20% quickly becomes very expensive and has an exponential growing cost the higher the percentage so no one does it for commercial applications
