I avoid swearing out of pain/frustration/anger because it feels performative. I believe doing it regularly will make me someone who is more easily angered or frustrated, and less capable of productively reacting. (Instead i say oof or oh dear or simply remain silent). I wonder if I'd start swearing after something happens, even if it wasn't that bad.
However this belief is pretty ungrounded and unevidenced, so I don't proselytise this practice or care what others do.
Also, I'm rather inert, so perhaps I've just never felt emotional enough to swear. Plus I like appearing more elegant/effeminate.
