What about aluminum cans? Is anything safe? Should I make a wooden cup?

It sounds like it's getting in from the room. The crimping process must make the plastic airborne and it gets into the open bottles before they're capped. This could easily be solved with a vacuum system at the crimper.

It's the caps
>“We…noticed that in the glass, the particles emerging from the samples were the same shape, color and polymer composition — so, therefore, the same plastic — as the paint on the outside of the caps that seal the glass bottles,” Chaib said.
>They theorized that “tiny scratches, invisible to the naked eye, probably due to friction between the caps when there were stored,” might subsequently “release particles onto the surface of the caps.”

Or just better storage of the caps before they're put on. Also the study was French and used only drinks available in France, so depending on the market it could be different if the caps are different. Over all it's probably best to use caps without any markings or colors added to help minimalize the risks, they can just use paper labels on the bottle itself for their faggy branding shit instead of fancy looking caps.
Though, yes corks would work too assuming they don't put shit all over the corks in attempt to market their products harder.

that's probably the main issue right there. cork and glass would work fine except that the marketing department couldn't control every little aspect of the presentation in that case.

Are you fucking brain dead by any chance?

You can’t put a glass cap on a glass bottle because neither are elastic it would shatter every time from pressure or trying to unscrew it or thermal d’expansion stress

So caps have to be made out of something soft, metal isn’t elastic enough so usually they’re metal capped with plastic or rubber AS YOU SHOULD HAVE NOTICED IF YOU EVER USED ONE

Now try to guess the difference between rubbing plastic on plastic and plastic with hard sharp glass with your two brain cells

You got it backwards. Everyone has a stick up their ass about MUH HECKIN MICRO PLASTICS. Women won't shut up about them. There are people eating 3 hungry man meals a day contained in and microwaved in plastic, drinking out of a plastic straw from a plastic hefty cup and they're fine. The reality is that exposure to plastic through foodstuff is a nothingburger issue and it's safe enough to accidentally ingest whole as long as it doesn't cut you. Japanese cans are lined with BPA and generations of men have lived to old age on the stuff. You're low IQ if you're hysteric against plastic and people that throw a fit over it lowkey have OCD.

Not to mention, life is finite and there is no appreciable way to significantly extend it 3-4x the average lifespan let alone double it. If you can't afford prime cuts of steak, fine food, the best ingredients and ideally have someone or the time to whip it up, it literally doesn't matter what you do because you were fucked from the start and sparing yourself the mental stress of worrying about it will do more to extend your life than any of the tips and tricks offered by pseuds. The obsession over diet is just a cope to feel in control and think everything is going to work out health. Scary sounding ingredients, dyes, and other things have been extensively studied and fail to show significant harm in much higher than culinary doses. Other things are misleading like confusing normal vs nanosized (titanium dioxide). All negligible and meaningless.

Amazing that people can't afford houses, can't secure high paying jobs, rent is out of control, taxes are sky high, labor is being imported legally on a daily basis, 4.5 trillion dollars for "health care" aren't given to them, they're given to the obese, old and sickly, and they still care about diet???? It's not even done in a scientific way on either side, just authority appeals, someone said something is bad or dumb buzzwords like muh petroleum.

Aluminum cans are lined with plastic.
This plastic lining is primarily used to prevent the beverage from reacting with the metal and to protect the can from corrosion, as acidic drinks like soda could damage the aluminum over time. The lining also helps preserve the taste of the beverage by preventing it from absorbing a metallic taste.

When you consume a beverage from an aluminum can, you are consuming 100 times more plastic, than aluminum.

As far as we know, they're non-toxic. These microplastics are inert so they don't really react with anything.
Before you mention endocrine disruptors: not all plastics contain them.

And to preempt you having an emotional response and calling me a shill or whatever:
I didn't say these plastics are "safe." I just said we don't really know and so the metric you're advocating for is irrelevant.

Realistically, if we are ACTUALLY concerned about shit like impurities and climate and fuel use, all one time use containers would be banned. Everyone would then simply buy their preferred container and could use it to fill up at stores or at home. You would then buy stuff in concentrated/powdered form and add water yourself. We already have soda streams for at home soda-making. Just make that shit the norm. Even better is it forces fat fags to make their own soda!

This would MASSIVELY save on weight in shipping, and everyone gets to use their own controlled and preferred container. Sure it would be a cultural change, but it's doable. Especially since faggots latched onto those paper straws so easily. Just normalize using your own containers for shit. Restaurants already have pitchers and soda fountains. Shit is stupid easy to adapt to.

Amazin. Yes if only reality were completely different you might have a point but it would require me to be the strawman in your mind as well. How... unscientific. Such magical thinking is common amongst expert trusters.

Meanwhile back in the real world microplastics have permeated the biosphere and they will be pervasive in many places. Because of this any manufactured good would have to be produced with a process designed to exclude them in order to not be riven with them or be created through a process that cuts down on the contamination by happy accident. Simple logic with no dirty money or studies needed.

But uh yeah I bet you need a source that explicitly states my point after all we're not weathermen who knows if its raining or not thinking is done in studies not in the wild.

What makesyou so sure of that?
The "test" that got safrole regulated was giving sassafras oil to mice and they started dying of cancer.
Well mouse studies have been done on microplastics exposure:
https://www.nature.com/articles/srep46687
This was just one such study.
If we are to take this at face value, there were some adverse effects measured at absurdly high doses. But overall:
"All animals were alive after the 4 weeks of exposure. Full details about the body weight, organ weight, relative organ weight and food-intake are provided in Table S1. No significant changes for daily food consumption were found between control and MP treated groups. No significant differences were observed for the final body weight and liver weight between control and treatment groups. The relative weight of liver, however, significantly decreased in the high dose (0.5mg/day) treatment groups. Among these groups, significantly increased food-intake was also observed in the mid and high dose treatment group of 20μm MPs."

>Because of this any manufactured good would have to be produced with a process designed to exclude them in order to not be riven with them or be created through a process that cuts down on the contamination by happy accident.
And you think this somehow excludes glass?
The caps are covered in plastic dust before being sealed to the bottle. Paint flaking is going to introduce more particles than a bottle leaching.
See? No study needed to explain that fact. Just common sense. But because this study is examining a pathway for microplastics to get into your beverage that you haven't considered, you just assert that the study was funded by dirty money.

you only wash it with green soap, eventually all the plastic cycles out.
(it helps to clean the labels off really thoroughly while the cap is on there, so the glue can't get inside.
may help to use rubbing alcohol or another solvent.)
the challenge for me now is to DIY new airtight bottle caps and jar lids. probably with natural latex and thin plate iron.
in the meantime, waxpaper and rubberbands.

Yes. And we found that safrole is far more toxic than microplastics.
Safrole got regulated because it's highly toxic and easy to avoid.
Certain microplastics still haven't been regulated because they're far less toxic and almost impossible to avoid.

you're not supposed to investigate the article then bring meaningful information to the discussion. You're supposed to make a crass generalization based on the article title.

>what about aluminum cans??
one guys youtube video used thermite or something to melt the can and it turns out there's a plastic bag literally lining the can. even the cans are plastic. glass is probably still the best option

There are ingestible replacements that should be in practice before lawsuits then regulation.
Companies that drag their feet on environmental safety are shameful capitalists.

Plastic or metal pipes? Maybe glass?
You do know the water doesn't come in light speed straight from the source when you turn the faucet, right?

If we wish to evolve into space beings, we shouldn't be worried about "micro plastic", there is much more challenging stuff out there.
If you can't digest plastic, just die!

Modern studies are just pulling stuff out of your ass entirely. Total fabrication. The instruments they use are inaccurate, can be calibrated to say literally anything, and are also unable to be used correctly by anyone. If you look at any college graduate, they are complete slaves to scientific dichotomy and falsehoods. They cannot ever admit that germs might not exist, because they would have to throw their entire support network under the bus to continue living. Their very soul, their eternal chance at freedom is owned by the institution.

Germs are not real.

And therein lies the whole problem:
The dose makes the poison. Fucking everything is toxic to some degree. Everything.
Obviously you're not gonna start regulating water because of people dying from hyponatremia. So we set regulations on two main metrics:
>how likely are you to be poisoned by the stuff?
>how easy is it to eliminate?

Safrole had a reasonable chance of giving you cancer if you consumed it regularly. It's also quite easy to just say "stop adding safrole to shit."
Plastic has very dubious toxicity (the high dose mice in the study were eating half a milligram every single day with minor consequence) and banning it would upend a huge sector of how industry operates.
