>>508407073 (OP)Actually this is a good question. The main things Israel has done for the US are -
1. Acted as a pseudo American proxy state in the region, allowing for US personnel to have an anchor in the region for military and trade operations.
2. The main reason the US started to get involved with Israel during the 70s during the Yam Kippur war was to test US waepons against 'live' targets without actually getting involved. This has been one of the big things Israel has done since then as well. We sell them relatively experimental and new weapons, and Israel tests them out against terror threats on our behalf, then relays info on what to improve upon.
3. Similar to above, they are a big purchaser of US arms. Even though we fund a part of it (not all of it), that money ends up back in the US defense companies.
4. The US specifically asked Israel not to get involved in Afghanistan or Iraq, due to Religious tensions. This isn't really a 'they didn't want to' thing, its something the US didn't want Israel to get involved in.
I'm not a turbo Israel shill but I think people who think there's some grand conspiracy with Jews ruling the world or something is a bit too far, bordering on schizo behavior. I think Israel 'uses' the US for defense, but we are basically 'using' Israel as a proxy for America involvement in the Middle East too. It goes both ways.
