I've been sleeping like shit for 5 days now. It takes me 6 hours to fall asleep. 6 fucking hours. I've tried melatonin and it hasn't helped. Only alcohol has worked for me (a quarter/half liter of bourbon) but then I wake up with a terrible hangover. My doctor has prescribed pic related. Does anyone have any experience with it? I don't want to take meds, but I'm just desperate

Identify why you have been sleeping badly. Did it just start up out of nowhere? Might be hormones. Men get hormonal fluctuations too, not as drastic as a woman's monthly hormonal fluctuations but still there.

Try Ashwaganda KSM-66. I sleep like a baby and I have some awesome lucid dreams. Lowers stress hormone cortisol thus and increases testosterone. Some say it takes a week but it was immediate for me (high stress). Works better than any benzo. No shitty groggy feeling in the morning either, no dreading getting up for work. Just comfy.
Just try it man I think alot of people are missing out

Yes, however i wont hide my flag so take this as you will.
Zolpiden is just a type of benzo, they call it non-benzo as a marketing term. It affects the same neurotransmitters in the brain.
It will work great initially, you will see the decreasing effects already by the second night. Eventually with continued use (talking about weeks) you will get muscle tremors, thats just your brain being hyperactive and the opposite of relaxed. At that stage you will need these pills just to be awake but semi relaxed. Forget about sleep, you wont be able to not twitch and spasm.
Alcohol has a similar method of action, thats why drinking helps you sleep, alcohol actually does less damage because it affects less neurotransmitters

Right. Get used to that shit in no time. Also think the issue goes much worse than just blasted circadian in some cases. When you become incapable of taking a nap in the afternoon because violent spasms and jerks wake you up every time you are about to fall asleep there must be something that has burned through in your brain. Must be some PTSD then ... permanent low level alarm mode. Fuck.

>Zolpiden is just a type of benzo, they call it non-benzo as a marketing term. It affects the same neurotransmitters in the brain.
not exactly, it binds to different receptors and it certainly feels different too
zolpidem is far, far more euphoric and has slight hallucinatory properties as well
it also is far more amnestic

zolpidem is really only gonna work if you need it for a few days, take it when in bed and ready to sleep, and even then it probably won't work for more than a week without you getting somewhat hooked on it

>because it affects less neurotransmitters
totally wrong, alcohol has a broader spectrum of effects, and alcohol tends to make you wake up when it wears off because of how it affects dopamine

It makes you eventually fall asleep if you take enough of it, you need to be somewhat committed to taking it in bed so you don't do crazy stuff on it
it's not so much about it making you sleepy as much as it making you feel good so sleep is less of a chore
I used to be really addicted to it, taking 7+ pills a day

Disregard Ashwaganda KSM-66. Disregard l-theanine, aswaghanda, valerian root tea. Start with the basics: proper earplugs (use lotion to make it feel comfy), proper mask (kinda expensive, the one that doesnt push on your eye sockets). The goal is to wake up everyday at the same hour - thats where your body makes a mark on circadian rhythm. Your bedroom needs to be quiet, completely dark. Use tape on your windows if you have to. Place needs to be cool, either get an AC or try to make due with ice packs under your sheets. As for the drugs, melatonin, apigenin, zolpidem is nice as well. Godspeed anon

>I don't want to take meds
You're already self medicating with alcohol, you're drinking a large amount of a toxic substance which acts as a CNS depressant and GABA disruptor in order to fall asleep.

Hypnotic medications like this also disrupt GABA activity but are far less toxic and better targetted. I'm surprised you were prescribed this rather than Zopiclone as its a more common first line short term sleep aid in my cunt.

Basically you'll have an easier time sleeping if you take it, it'll be way more effective than alcohol and way less stressful on your body and liver. Try to use it to reestablish your circadian rhythm in the short term. In the longer term try to address the cause of your sleep issues - are they anxiety related? Would you be open to considering anxiety treatment? Food for thought, but just being able to sleep normally will put you in a better state of mind overall.

Valerian root, chamomile tea if thirsty, and moderate the melatonin.
The thing with melatonin is, sometimes 2mg will work and going to 4mg will make it not work anymore. I personally take a mere 0.5mg when necessary.
If you're taking the 10mg pills you're fucking yourself over.
If you have difficulties staying asleep take GABA (supplement from any grocery store, not benzos or whatever).

Lastly, develop good sleep hygiene and consider ASMR.

>Works better than any benzo.
Lol this is not true. I hate REM sleep and its propensity of the sleeper to dream vividly. BZD always and ever. I want to not have anything cloud my mind whilst I am out. I have such fucked up dreams. Z-Drugs just make me wake up when I dream. They are alpha1 GABAA modulators only and they barely do shit for anxiety and muscle relaxation. Are BZDs more dangerous and unhealthy? Totally, but if you don't abuse them and take 1 or 2mg only per week they are amazing. They only got a bad rep because of addicts who cannot play this game for years and get hooked as they take more and more.

Since my shrink put me on them I lost a lot of mental burden and happy even when not on them. Taking the ritalin (methylphenidate) as well due to ADHD, best anti-depressants are stims. Obviously abused as well, fuck adderral, that's just amphetamine. Legal "drugs" are the best drugs. Z-hypnotics however gave me hallucinations and made me suicidal. Avoid them like cancer.

Cold turnkey'd my Z-hypnotics (since they are not like BZDs you will not seize out on them and die if you cut them out of your life, only benefit is you can quit day one if you abuse Z-hypnotics).

Always take as prescribed and even then a little less, you'll never get hooked. For every day without sleep, there will be a good day once or twice a week where you can enjoy them in moderation. Stay un-seizured and don't get hooked on the based (((pharmabro)))!

>Zolpiden is just a type of benzo, they call it non-benzo as a marketing term. It affects the same neurotransmitters in the brain.

So many lies. It doesn't even have the name giving heterocycle. This person is a liar and crook.

use the sleep timer built into youtube set to an hour and put on something just interesting enough to distract part of your mind but just unimportant enough to you personally that you dont mind falling asleep to it. it can be counter productive to lay there trying to fall asleep for several hours. also sometime you are asleep but think youre awake and remember being awake but you werent

Do the little tubes that fly past your vision sometimes on sleeping pills have a name? They're not floaters.

I feel for you anon, 2 months ago I had terrible insomnia much like yours. What got me to sleep at times was sleep meditation that you can find on youtube. At other times I needed to nut, legit had to wank until I was sapped. What fixed it was getting a job and taking 1mg melatonin every night two hours before bed.

try making some chamomile tea instead of all those chemical coctails, listen to calm music at low volume and try to rest naturally in a dark room. (or put on research videos with educational content like chemistry and biology and you will brainwash yourself into learning knowledge while sleeping)

Also, no nicotine/vapes/cigs 3 hours before bed. That was what caused my insomnia in the first place.

Also what do you think about when you sleep?
I have a fantasy of me slaughtering fictional enemies like guts and travelling around fantasy realm and going into taverns and aura farming, legit.
