Russia was so poor in the 1990s that most children only had unlicensed copies of a local-made famicom called Dendy. The richest had the original mega drive. We couldn't play GoldenEye. In 1999, I only had a clone of Famicom.

I don't know about other eastern bloc countries, but here only the rich kids would get gaming consoles in the 90s. The average kid would play pirated games or free demos on the family computer which was usually a piece of shit that could only handle games which were a few years out of date.
