>>508482576That aside it's hard to see the point in a draft. The US military isn't built for mass conscription, its entire structure and doctrine are built around experienced professional soldiers. It'd take years to build up the training infrastructure for mass new troops, equipment and housing for all of them, transportation for them, etc. too.
Outside of that, I think that if there WAS some kind of draft, it'd start with calling people who'd already served back up, along with very specific people and assets that have necessary qualifications - the Civil Reserve Air Fleet program for example allows the US government to take command of certain civilian aircraft, along with their flight crews, and use them for military purposes, and I think there's something similar for US-flagged merchant ships.
