This is the inevitable standard of future warfare. There is little point in throwing all of your "military age" men away into the meat grinder of war, especially in modern times when every semi-developed country on the planet is facing a fertility crisis. Attacking infrastructure with autonomous drones/milliles is much more valuable and dramatically cheaper.

Pretty much, it takes 18 years to have a person, it only takes a month to make a military base. A drone takes a week.

This is all 5th generation warfare. Nothing is impromptu, this was all planned, coordinated and orchestrated 50 years ago.
