They have nukes. You know the phrase "an armed society is a polite society"? If everyone has a gun you have to resolve your disputes with words, because any confrontation can turn deadly. It applies at the political level with nukes. Once you have nukes no one can force you to do anything and all your issues need to be resolved through diplomacy or economic and proxy wars.

I'm told that if muslims get a nuke, then the whole world will be destroyed. We're not bombing Pakistan tho. Hm.
