I think the right needs to reach a point where their median voter is Israel-neutral.

Right now in US politics, on the left side of the spectrum you have:

This is simply not enough to turn the national needle. Democrats need every single vote they can to even come close to winning a national election. They aren't going to piss off their Jewish electorate (65% of Jewish Americans vote Democrat). Which means they are stuck, at least until the Boomers all die off.

Thus, the ONLY way that we are getting change on Israel policy is if the right moves more towards the middle. I don't think yankees understand just how powerful the Evangelicals are in the South.
