I think America should build more rail around the cities to relieve the highways of some commute congestion. development usually follows train stations like apartments and restaurants so it’s good for the local economy

murricans are filled with rage at the mere mention of trains. it is culturally taboo to walk or ride a bicycle as well. they go into great debt to drive cars and fancy luxury trucks and demand that everyone do the same, while also complaining about traffic. their cities are covered in parking lots and highways and nothing else so there is nowhere to actually go with all these cars but plenty of parking when you get to nowhere. maybe its more about the journey than the destination. with proper mixed use zoning there would be less need to drive, with proper transit there would be fewer cars on the road, but they would rather everyone be taking a car on unnecessary trips so everything commercial is seperated from everything residential by a distance that must be driven because the transit sucks. it`s just their way.

have you never had to go to a sports game or event downtown. public transit is packed and keeps 1000s of cars off the roads. commuting hours are also packed and they run more trains between 6-9 and 4-7

the offices in one place, the apartments in another, commercial in yet another zone, all seperated by a distance that must be driven. no trains! keep it so that everyone needs a car and then jack up the price of cars so everyone is in debt. that is what america is all about
