>>508552234 (OP)depends on what we mean by generosity. is giving money generous if an unjust socio-economic system is the reason for one's homelessness? if the reason is due to mental ill health, does generosity take the form of listening, befriending and incorporating the person into our culture in a way that rehumanizes them? or does it mean slip them a sandwich? is the very idea of being generous to the homeless reinforcing a power dynamic that says "I'm ok, you're not, I give, you take" which only serves to eliminate dialogue and keep two human beings in seperate boxes from one another? Or am I talking like a fag and my shit's all retarded?
If you're just looking for denominational brownie points, my questions still matter. PC(USA) gets high ranks for trying to address the othering of the needy, Catholics get high ranks for material provisions, Sikhs get high ranks for feeding the hungry, Atheists get high ranks for trying to find new moral reasons to be kind and generous.
