Why did india fail at building a tech sector unlike china?
In the 1970s the government wanted to make india a tech giant and believed that it would be the next big thing achieved by the country. They built IT parks, universities, and public sector companies aimed at making new products. In the 1990s india opened it's economy to the world and went deregulation in order to trigger a business boom.
But in the 21st century, india only produces an army of low skilled codemonkeys that flee to developed nations, and has millions of unemployed engineers that ended up building a large scamming industry. India has no tech products, no innovation, no means to compete with global corporations, and cannot even make it's own computer chips. Meanwhile china which was on the same level as india in the 70s is today giving tough competition to america.
Why did india's attempts to make it into technology fail?
